Genghis-Khan (Part 9), Age of Sails and Corsairs

This post is following the last 8 ones. Make sure to read Genghis-Khan full history in part 1-8 of his adventures.

Following the last chapter, no Ottoman significantly affect North Africa in similar fashion to Europe. They conquered a good chunk of it which then would have never happenedOne of the major changes is bye bye  Barbary Corsairs, as they were directly funded by the Ottomans to piss off Europeans in the Mediterranean.

This could have delayed the Age of Discovery or, also change nothing. Europe was keen on exploring the west because the Ottomans had a monopoly on the Silk Road to the orient and made them pay premium prices to move products through their landsSo, with them gone and the area being divided into smaller kingdoms, trade to Asia wouldn’t have been as expensive. As such the nations of Europe would have been less interested in an alternate route. Or, maybe another great empire would have appeared instead to create the exact same problems. In that case, that part of history would have played roughly the same it has... and that’s what we call foreshadowing.

We’ll continue with the Genghis-Khan series in the next post. Make sure to follow the next part of the series!
